Qurbani 2021
Bringing happiness to the community through Qurbani
About This Project
Goat and Sheep meat was provided, through the Qurbani program, to displaced community in Kibos.
The residents of Kibos are a marginalized community in Kisumu County, Kenya, originally relocated from their ancestral lands near the Nile in Sudan during the colonial era. Settled in Kibos by the British in the early 20th century, they have faced decades of land disputes, legal battles, and inadequate compensation, leaving them in a state of economic and social precarity. Despite their rich cultural heritage and historical contributions, they struggle with limited access to land ownership, basic services, and political recognition.
Their continued displacement highlights unresolved historical injustices and the ongoing challenges of securing land rights for indigenous communities in Kenya.
