Borehole in Kibera

Providing much needed fresh water to the population of Salama

About This Project

The Salama community is a pre-colonial settlement that borders the largest slum in Africa, Kibera. The settlement was originally designed to accommodate approximately 500 people; however, to date, the population has grown to around 20,000.

Due to the significant population increase, the residents of Salama are not receiving basic amenities, such as water. Many taps have been dry for the last decade, forcing the residents of Salama to buy water from vendors.

In light of this water challenge, we propose digging a borehole at Salama Jamia Masjid to benefit the community.
